1740 Map

Somerset archive record DD\WG/MAP/1 is a map of the Waldegraves estate in Chewton Mendip in the year 1740. It shares a similar numbering system and orientation as the 1766 map which differs from both the 1794 map and modern maps by 180%. Unlike the 1766 map, it is in good condition. The Kingsmill  land was owned by Hugh Corry who had married into the Kingsmill  family but apart from that  and other detail the 1740 map may be used as an alternative to the 1766 map..
