Gold

John Golde was one of the dispossessed monks of Glastonbury Abbey and the  Golde  family  were from south  Somerset. The name Golde became Gould and Gold and both names appear in the history of Chewton Mendip.

The Gold family were mentioned several leases for properties in 1740 and 1766 but the name appears to have died out after that.
