Bath family

The earliest reference to the  Bath family date back to th Medieval era in Emborough but the first link to Chewton Mendip so far discovered is when evidence was  given by  Joane, the wife of Stephen Bath,  who was  labourer against John White concerning the theft of cheeses belonging to Mr Brice. An Edward Bath was signing churchwarden accounts in 1726 but he may still have been living in Emborough because his estate was not named.
The later references to the Bath family in the 18th century  poor law book were mainly as recipients to poor relief but a Doctor Bath was also frequently mentioned dealing with various ailments and injuries.
