Dalimore

The Dalimore family appear in several records about Chewton mendip in the 18thth and 19th centuries.
Thomas Dalimore was probably living in what is now called Eakers Hill. They probably had taken over from a family called Rosewell but the name of the farm appears to have undergone an unlikley transition to Reeves. The Dalimore estate was called Reeves & Nobels by the middle of the 18th century.
Some of the Dalimores had fallen on hard times because they were in receipt of poor releif in the late of the 18th century.
The Rosewell connection was still strong in the 19th century. Elizabeth Dalimore was a witness of the marriage Ann Rousell and John Loxton both of East Harptree in East Harptree on 13/11/1815 or 25/9/1815. The other witness was James Rousel. Rousel was one of the many variations of the name Rosewell.
