Old Ford Farm Building 2
The 1740 map shows a building next to Old Ford Farm is also shown in the 1794 map. It is on a right angled bend of what was probably a leat or waterway used to power a water mills so it is the best prospect of a Grist mill refereed to in 1740 and 1766 although other buildings may have been mills at other times on Lower Street and the Litton road . |
It was a Waldegrave property in the Town tithing and the Culliford family held the lase in the 18th Century but other families may have run the mill. |
Plot number 132 in 1839 includes several buildings but the proposed mill was next to plot 130. |
