Golledge

Anthony Golledge was listed in the hearth tax exemptions for Chewton Mendip in 1674 which means he was of modest means. Other members of the the family may have been more prosperous and may have given their name to Barrow Farm which was called Golledge in the 18th century. Golledge is also a name that is used for a farm near Penn Hill and other features in the area.
Isaac Gollidge was married to Sara when their son, Arron, was christened in Chewton Mendip on 5/11/1755.
There is quite a gap in the documentary record until George Golledge was living at West End Farm when his daughter, Jenifer, attended Chewton Mendip school in 1940. He  can be seen in the picture of the Waldgrave tenants lunch in the 1950s.
