Veal

Veal Farm was in the Town tithing on Lower Street. It is not shown on the  1794 map because it belonged to the Kingsmills. It is one possibility for the Parsonage Farm.
No reference to Veal Farm has yet been found in the poor law but the Veal family appear in a number of records relating to Chewton Mendip.  It is possible that the Veal Family were the source of the nameor ithe name of the farm could be derived fron Veal production.
Veal farm is the closest Kingsmill farm to the Loxton’s estate referred to in the early 18th century.
Part of Veal farm was used as a girls school and ballroom. The Habgoods were farming Veal farm within living memory and may have purchased the land in 1848.
