East End cottages

East End CottagesThe picture on the left shows a row of cottages in East End  built by the Waldegraves in 1910. The Hippisley family had owned several farms in the Chewton Mendip and the 1902 map shows that there may have still be a farm or small holding on the site. The modern East End Farm,  Hippisley farm and Lower East End Farm  are all standing but none of them operate as farms. It is possible there were a fourth farm which is now just a ruined barn and his may have been a fifth farm on this site
East End CottagesThis extract from the 1794 map shows the site now occupied by the row of cottages above.
