Gay

The Gay family , or it is sometimes spelt Grey or Gray, have a long standing link to  Widcombe. The churchwarden accounts and poor book  of the 18th century. These records refer to Henry Gray was paying for an estate in Widcombe from the early part of the 18th century.

Henry Sherborne was also paying poor rates for some of the Gay estate in the middle of the century. He was also paying rates for Holcombe estate which may have formed part of the Gay estate.
