Lansdown

The only record of a member of the Landown family living in Chewton Mendip so far discovered is when Anne Landsown was buried in Chewton Mendip on the 28th April 1768. She may have been related to the Richard Landsown listed in the churchwarden and poor book paying rates for an estate in the Town tithing the 1740s and 1750s. The estate is not shown in the 1794 map.
The estate was in the probably belonged to the Kingsmills and may have included Blackmans.
