Withey

Sidney Tom Withey  is listed as having served in WW1 as a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery. He may have been known as Tom and it is believed he was a carpenter in civilian life who was living in Lower Street when his son attended Chewton Mendip School in 1920.

Another branch of the family was living Litton 20 years later. William Robert Withey was living in Shortwood Farm, Litton, when his  children attended Chewton Mendip school in the 1940s.

It is believed that a Ron Withey was a member of the succesful 1950s skittles team.
