Lasbury Lane
Lasbury Lane used to connect Tor Hole to Nedge via Adams Grove and used to define part of the northern edge of the Mendip Forest. The 1640 map suggests ‘Latchbery Lane’ was at Green Ore and that Green Ore Cross Roads was called Latchbery Corner. |
It is site shown on the 1794 map, marked by the yellow spots, and it is also shown in the 1800 map. |
The poor law records show that the James Lasbury was grouped with Samuel Clark in the list of farms with the responsibility for taking apprentices in 1754. Samuel Clark farmed at Adams Grove Farm which no longer stands. Nedge Farm and Everards farm still stand but are now private houses. |
Lasbury lane is not shown in the 1839 map but the outline of the boundary with what was then called Green Ore Farm was still the parish boundary. Green Ore Farm is now called Rookery Farm and there are other building on the site. |
