| The Tovey family are limited to the 18th century records of Chewton Mendip. Richard and Hester Tovey had son, John and William, baptised on 13/1/1726-27 in Chewton Mendip. They may be referred to in the churchwardens accounts which start in 1699. Betty Wilkins of Chewton Mendip married somebody called Tovey of Chewton mendip but the first name is illegible. Richard or William are the best prospects identified so far. She is the best bet for the Widow Tovey mentioned in poor books starting in 1730 and later records. |
