Puppy Lane

Puppy Lane is one of the oldest, and one of the most endearing, names of a feature in Chewton Mendip that is still used. It links the centre of the village,  or the Town tithings, with the Eborough Road and East End . The extract from the 1794 map shows it was surrounded by a large number of fields that had already been greatly reduced by the time the 1840 tithe map was produced.

Puppy lane is now the home of the cricket club.
