Sherborne

Sherborne is the name of a hamlet between Chewton Mendip and Litton. It forms part of  the Litton parish but the  family appear in the records of Chewton Mendip. There was an estate called Sherbornes, or Sherburne, in Widcombe during the 17th and 18th century which included parts of the Gay and Holcombe estates. John Sherborne was identified as a tenant in 1611 whilst Henry Sherborne was listed in the 18th century.

Jonas Moon was responsible for part of the estate c1728-1730 according to the churchwarden accounts and poor book of the period.
